Description:

The casing of Schmid fireboxes is made of special steel with a thickness of 4 to 5 mm in the most vulnerable areas. It is heat-resistant, non-alloyed steel and has the properties of not deforming under high temperature loads.

The device at the furnace outlet cannot be lined with fireclay bricks inside as the internal combustion chamber. The highest temperatures occur there and steel is unsuitable for this part of the firebox. That is why Schmid fireboxes use smoke hoods made of Konigshutte cast iron. Konigshutte production has existed for about 3 centuries, cast iron for fireboxes, which is produced at this factory belongs to the class of heat-resistant, has excellent chemical properties and technical characteristics. The special cast iron grade (GGL15 - with lamellar graphite, minimum strength -150 N/mm2) guarantees reliability and long service life of both the smokebox and the firebox. The thickness of cast iron in the high temperature zone reaches 8-15 mm, which somewhat weighs down the construction of the firebox, but prevents it from breaking and meets safety requirements. There is a rotary mechanism of connection to the chimney on the chimney flue.

Advantages of Schmid fireboxes:
  • The material of the firebox lining is fireclay or vermiculite with a ‘brickwork’ pattern or solid-coloured plates. Available in black colour.
  • Cast iron smokebox consists of 4 separate elements.
  • A convenient handle for lifting the grate makes it easy to clean the ash drawer.
  • Easy adjustment of the combustion air supply.
