Description:

Superb German steel corner fireplace with cast iron smokebox. The fireplace firebox is wood-fuelled. 

The smoke box of a fireplace firebox cannot be lined with fireproof material inside, but the highest temperatures occur there and steel is unsuitable for this part of the firebox. That is why Schmid fireboxes use smokeboxes made of cast iron of the Konigshutte brand. The production of Konigshutte has existed for about 3 centuries, cast iron for fireplaces, which is produced at this factory belongs to the class of heat-resistant, has excellent chemical properties and technical characteristics. The special cast iron grade guarantees reliability and long service life of both the smokebox and the fireplace hearth as a whole. The thickness of cast iron in the high temperature zone reaches 8-15 mm, which somewhat weighs down the construction of the firebox, but prevents it from breaking and meets safety requirements. There is a swivelling mechanism of connection to the chimney of the fireplace on the chimney flue. 

Advantages of Schmid corner fireboxes:

  • The lining material of the corner fireplace firebox is fireclay with a ‘brickwork’ pattern or solid-coloured plates. Available in black colour.
  • The cast iron smokebox consists of 4 separate elements.
  • A convenient handle for lifting the grate makes it easy to clean the ash drawer.
  • Easy adjustment of the combustion air supply. 

The Ekko L 67(45) corner fireplace firebox belongs to the Ekko range of the Schmid brand. 


Variants of height of the observation glass frame:
  • Schmid Ekko Ekko L 67(45)45 (45 cm) corner fireplace.
  • Schmid Ekko L 67(45)51 (51 cm) corner fireplace.
  • Schmid Ekko L 67(45)57 (57 cm) corner fireplace.


As an option it is possible to order a decorative frame for the loading door.

The decorative frame is available in two depths of 20 mm and 50 mm and has several decorative finishes: anthracite, gilt, chrome and stainless steel.

Also as an option to this model it is possible to order:

  • Ceramic heat accumulator, which gives the opportunity to heat the room after the end of burning.
  • Extended cast iron smokebox. Increases the area of the hot surface of the firebox, which in turn increases the strength and temperature of convection flows.
  • Double glazing of the stoking door and side view windows.

The door of the Schmid corner fireplace firebox opens to the side. The width of the front viewing window is 67 cm, the width of the side viewing window is 45 cm.
The diameter of the chimney is Ø 180 mm.
