The inside of the smoke collector cannot be lined with a refractory material like the internal combustion chamber. However, the highest temperatures occur in this area and steel is not suitable for this part of the firebox. That is why Schmid fireplace inserts are made of heat-resistant cast iron, which has excellent chemical properties and technical characteristics.
The thickness of cast iron in the high temperature zone reaches 8-15 mm.
Schmid fireplace inserts are equipped with swiveling smoke collectors that simplify the connection of the fireplace insert to the chimney. It is possible to connect to the chimney vertically, horizontally or at an angle of 45 degrees.
The body of Schmid fireboxes is made of special steel with a thickness of 4 to 5 mm in the most vulnerable places. This is a heat-resistant unalloyed steel that does not deform under high temperature loads. Inside, each firebox is lined with refractory fireclay. The use of this material has been proven for decades, it is best suited for interior fireplace lining, having high protection against thermal overloads. In addition, it is durable and serves for a long time without losing its properties.
