Description of functional and technological features of the Ekko U 55(45)h firebox:

• Material of the furnace body - heat-resistant non-alloy steel 4-5 mm thick, which ensures the strength of the construction and resistance to high temperatures without deformation;
• Material of the hood (chimney) - 8 mm thick cast iron, as the chimney cannot be lined with heat-resistant materials and steel is not suitable as a material.
  
• PRIMARY & SECONDARY' double air supply system with fast ignition, long burning and secondary afterburning.
• The 'TWIN AIR STREAM' system works on the principle of blowing hot air over the inner surface of the glass during combustion in the firebox. Excellent view of the flame.
• The flue ends with a swivel joint that can be connected to a chimney with a diameter of 180 mm at an angle of 90, 180 and 45° (i.e. vertically, horizontally and diagonally).
• The viewing glass is made in Germany, ceramic, heat resistant up to 800°C.
• There is a removable ash pan with a cast iron grate and a practical handle.
• Adjustment of the air supply intensity is simple and effortless;

  • Mounting frame
    
    The smoke box of the firebox cannot be lined inside with fireclay as the internal combustion chamber. The highest temperature is generated there and steel is unsuitable for this part of the firebox. That is why Schmid fireboxes use smokeboxes made of cast iron by Olsberg. Olsberg production has existed for about 3 centuries, cast iron for fireboxes, which is produced at this factory belongs to the class of heat-resistant, has excellent chemical properties and technical characteristics. The special grade of cast iron guarantees reliability and long service life of both the smoke box and the firebox as a whole. The thickness of cast iron in the high temperature zone reaches 8-15 mm, somewhat weighing down the construction of the firebox, but prevents it from breaking and meets safety requirements.
    

The smoke collector consists of several parts, which makes it possible to connect to the chimney vertically, horizontally or at an angle of 45 degrees.

The body of Schmid fireboxes is made of special steel with a thickness of 4 to 5 mm in the most vulnerable places. It is heat-resistant unalloyed steel. Its main properties: not to deform under high temperature loads. Inside each firebox is lined with refractory fireclay. The use of this material has been tested for decades, it is best suited for the internal lining of the fireplace, having a high resistance to high temperatures. In addition, it is durable and lasts a long time without losing its properties.
