Advantages of Schmid fireboxes:

  • Cast iron smokebox consists of 4 separate elements.
  • A convenient handle for lifting the grate makes it easy to clean the ash drawer.
  • Easy adjustment of the combustion air supply. 


The Schmid Ekko U 67(45) firebox belongs to the Ekko range of the Schmid brand. There are three versions of the Ekko U 67(45) firebox, differing in the height of the viewing glass frame:
  • Ekko U 67(45)45 (frame height 45 cm); price - 5 718 euros.
  • Ekko U 67(45)51 (51 cm high frame); price: €5,718.
  • Ekko U 67(45)57 (57 cm frame height); price - EUR 5,940.

At the customer's request, the company supplies fireboxes with different frame and sight glass frames:
  • Standard delivery - anthracite frame.
  • Deco style gilding or chrome plating of the frame (5 mm thin strip on the frame, matt or glossy).
  • Full tinting (glossy or matt) of the frame in gilding, stainless steel or chrome.
  • Concealed frame with tinted glass all round (Kristall style), or on three sides (Kristall+ style).

Additional options available for Ekko fireboxes:
It is possible to change the opening side of the door.
Galvanisation of the entire visible front part of the door.
Double glazing.

The body of the Schmid firebox is made of special steel with a thickness of 4 to 5 mm in the most vulnerable places. It is heat-resistant non-alloyed steel and has the properties of not deforming under high temperatures and loads. Inside each firebox is lined with refractory chamotte. The use of this material has been tested for decades, it is best suited for the internal lining of the fireplace, having a high resistance to temperature fluctuations. In addition, it is durable and lasts a long time without losing its properties.
